tooted as the ultimate boutique, Lounge, in fabulously fashion-forward district of Soho(so the show implied), their ultimate ending is here before you. as many of you would know their so-called sale(by sale I mean doubling the original retail price, then "cleverly" adjust sale price by 50% etc) started months ago, before X'mas even commenced...not much is left of yet another store being swallowed by the big "R".

remember when Carson Kressley, the fashion guru of "Fab Five", from the ever so addictive Bravo series "Queer Eye For the Straight Guy", would run in with the Straight Guy, film crew in hand, speedily shop through the entire store, which was always, consistently, at Lounge? the sale started way back when, shortly before the holidays circa 08.

as the big "R" trudges on, even the big chains are beginning to feel the burn. as you can see, Circuit City, the place where I've never once found any of the fancy deals they advertise, finally seeing its ending days. now will the mom-n-pop stores come back en scene? better not leave the market for a monopoly to the other, Best Buy...? with the prevelance of internet shops etc, the idea of a monopoly is probably as ancient as it sounds. catch the non-sale they have going on in all locations across town now.

Petite Peton 70% off??? the recession has reduced even one of the most high brow shoe boutique to slashing prices I've never even seen for this particular boutique that is know for its usual non-budging price point. finally, something to love about a recession.

what used to be one of THE top store to get your shoe freak on, or if you're a stylist, best borrowing source with a good range of fab shoe finds, is now a Lizzie's, of all things reincarnated. it had to be another chain food spot...will this society eat themselves to oblivion? sigh.

a number of shoe stores have closed down on 8th st, making it yet another New York street filled with shiny cafes, bright pinkberrys, and brand new restaurants. rendering 8th street, aka shoe street, forever rest in peace in our memories of yesterdays of New York City and its New York-ness.

this was taken two days ago...already the space is ready to go for a new renter...not even a month later! quite possible that the owners is backed on rent in need for new occupants asap? after all, the national liquidators had been there for a generous chunk of time, perhaps even close to a decade? of course that's up until recent closure.

oh, national liquidator, how I miss you...just where will I buy all my random household items I never knew I needed and more at the center of ny shopping zone...do you mean I actually have to travel outside noho/soho to satisfy my ever-persistent desire for cheap shopping on a fly? New York isn't the same without you...

old news first...it was a couple months ago when I first noticed this, I could not even believe my eyes, I wanted to cry, to tell everyone that knows the significance of this place...this is a NYC staple!!! for every thrift-conscious person in New York, this was THE heaven to shop at. and now, no longer. the recession has hit New York, and this is what it has come down to...this is NEW YORK now! note the yesterday years of financial reign, gone in a matter of a New York minute...
